John XXIII Catholic School is backed by a long history of Catholic education in Middletown, Ohio. John XXIII Catholic School traces its roots back to three schools: Holy Trinity School, St John School and St. Mary's School.
Holy Trinity School opened its doors in 1867, holding classes in Holy Trinity Church. eventually, a school building was erected, and the Sisters of Charity of Mt. St. Joseph established mission and assumed charge of the school. Holy Trinity continued its tradition of Catholic Education until 1973, when John XXIII Consolidated School came into existence.
