John XXIII Catholic Elementary School has a preschool program, accredited by the Ohio Department of Education, for three and four year old children. The preschool is staffed by two licensed preschool teachers, Mrs. Beth Harrison and Mrs. Cari Hellmann, and a licensed assistant teacher, Mrs. Maria Jeffers.
Our Teachers use the Creative Curriculum and includes a Christian faith based component available to students of all faiths. The many assets of the John XXIII campus that are available to all students, such as two computer labs, a full sized gymnasium, beautiful playground and library, are also available to the preschool students.
The daily class schedule is as follows:
- Learning centers - math, language, science and social studies
- Group activities - songs, games, discussions, poems, guest speakers, etc.
- Story time
- Large muscle activity - either in the gym or outside on the playground
- Snack - Healthy daily snacks are provided to all students
- All time spent will be educational time-- NO nap time for preschool program
Preschool students also participate in school activities that are appropriate and take place during preschool time.
To qualify for either program, the children must reach the age of 3 or 4 by September 30, 2012, and all children must be toilet trained before the first day of school. The three year old class will meet on Thursdays and Fridays from 8:30-11:00 a.m. for a cost of $95 per month. There are two four year old classes, one group meeting in the morning, from 8:30- 11:00 am the other in the afternoon meeting from 1:00- 3:30 p.m. The four year old class will meet on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays for a cost of $115 per month. There is a registration fee of $50.
There is an optional supervised playtime offered daily from 7:45 am - 8:30 am.
There is a limit of 16 students for the 3 year old class, and 20 for the 4 year old classes.
