Reading: This week we read a story in class and practiced defining vocabulary words and writing answers in complete sentences. We also did a practice spelling test in class. No grades were taken from any assignments we completed this first week of school! Next week
Our story next week is Goldilocks and the Three Bears, written by James Marshall. The students love the illustrations and humor that James Marshall includes in his story books. To go along with the story, the students will practice writing down and memorizing definitions and restating questions to answer in complete sentences. The students will have their first Reading test on Friday. On Thursday evening, please review the study guide your child will bring home. They will need to match all vocabulary words to the correct definition and answer all questions using complete sentences.
The Spelling words for next week are; happen, pretty, letter, million, little, rabbit, hurry, muffins, balloon, ladder, puddle, middle, hammer, lesson, and drill.

Our first unit is on graphing. We will learn pictographs and bar graphs.

Social Studies
The students will learn about maps, continents, and oceans.
