What is the John XXIII Stewardship Fundraising Program?
The Stewardship Fundraising Program is the school’s central fundraising effort. The funds generated from the stewardship fundraising program go into the general fund. They help cover general operating expenses, such as salaries, building payment, utilities, etc. These items would otherwise have to be covered by large increases in tuition. The goal is to raise $100,000 for the 2006 – 2007 school year. The program is designed to generate revenue in a way that is easier on a family’s budget than substantial tuition increases.
What are the requirements of the program?
Each family is required to participate and reach a minimum of 7,500 points. Points are earned by participating in various stewardship fundraisers. Families may also choose to ‘buy’ points. Families may use any combination of stewardship fundraisers to reach the minimum requirement. Points are calculated as follows:
Cash
25 Points per $1.00 spent
[i.e. 1,250 points ‘bought’ for a $50 fee paid]
.............................................
365 Lotto
10 points per $1.00 spent
[i.e. 200 points for selling a $20 ticket]
.............................................
Magazine Sale
10 points per $1.00 spent
[i.e. 180 points for selling an $18 subscription]
.............................................
Kroger Gift Cards
1 point per $1.00 spent
[i.e. 100 points for reloading $100 to a gift card]
.............................................
Scrip
1 point per $1.00 spent
[i.e. 30 points for buying a $30 scrip]
.............................................
What are Scrips?
Scrips are gift certificates. The scrips or gift certificates are purchased through the school and used at the specific merchant for which they are purchased. The purchaser receives a gift certificate for the full amount of the purchase price and the school receives a percentage from the vendor. A family can earn stewardship points for routine spending that is incurred on a regular basis or earn points for purchasing clothing and Christmas presents. There are both local and national vendors who participate.
How can I tell which fundraisers are ‘stewardship fundraisers’ and which are not?
Current stewardship fundraisers are listed above. Any new fundraising options added to the program would be introduced as stewardship fundraisers and would include the points formula. Again, stewardship fundraising revenue goes into the general fund. Therefore, other school related groups will continue to fundraise separately from this program to fund their activities.
What is a good idea to help me meet my minimum points?
Recruit family and friends. They can purchase scrips and Kroger gift cards, and you can get the points. Since many of the vendors are national, you can even recruit out-of-towners to help.
How will the points be tracked and reported?
All fundraising participation will be centrally tracked at school. An individual report will be sent home quarterly to each family in September, December, February and May.
How long do I have to meet my minimum points?
All points must be earned by May 15th, 2007. If 75% of the minimum points are not secured by the third quarter report, the school will make contact to determine a plan for satisfying the minimum requirement.
More specific details about the 365 Lotto and the Magazine Sale will be communicated during the fall of the school year.
